The grant will be awarded over a three-year period, and Cerus will receive approximately $1.4 million for the first year of development.

rare adverse reactions to smallpox vaccination. The VIGIV program is managed
by DVC LLC, a CSC company, for the Department of Defense Joint Vaccine
Acquisition Program (JVAP) Product Management Office.DVC
is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development and licensure of
safe and efficacious biodefense vaccines and therapeutics. DVC is part of

Commonwealth Biotechnologies, Inc.
(CBTE) Biodefense - Announced July 1, 2004 additional new bio-defense related contract work.
The contracts are valued at nearly $1.2 million and are with government and private sector clients.
Corixa Corporation (CRXA) Biodefense -
A developer of immunotherapeutics announced January 5,2004 it was awarded an $11.6 million,
five-year contract from the National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH),
to develop its proprietary synthetic molecules that act on a receptor known
as TLR4. TLR4 is a member of a newly recognized family of receptors
called Toll-like receptors. Corixa's drug candidates have shown in
preclinical studies to activate the immune system to protect against
infections, especially those that affect the respiratory tract. The contract
is being funded by the Biodefense Partnership program at the NIH.

worth $1.5 million. The OPH exercise program focuses on the development of realistic threat- based
scenarios, based upon one of six primary bioterrorism agents: anthrax, smallpox, botulism, plague,
ricin and tularemia. These exercises will explore the response process and program response structure.
