Centex Construction Products names CEO

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept 18 (Reuters) - Centex Construction Products Inc. (NYSE:CXP)
said on Thursday that Steven Rowley, its chief operating officer, had been promoted to president and chief executive officer.
Rowley, 50, also has been elected to the company's board of directors. He will continue to have line operating responsibility for all four of CXP's business units: cement, gypsum wallboard, paperboard, and concrete and aggregates.
Richard Jones, the company's former president and chief executive, retired effective March 31. Laurence Hirsch, who is CXP's chairman as well as chairman and CEO of Centex Corp.
(NYSE:CTX), had assumed Jones' responsibilities.
Dallas-based Centex owns about 65 percent of CXP and previously has said it would spin off CXP to shareholders in a tax-free transaction. The spin-off is expected to be completed on or about Dec. 31.
